Mission
American Legion Post 1026 located in scenic Woodstock, NY was formed on April 3, 1932. It is a not-for-profit community-service organization whose members include veteran members from all of America's Armed Forces.
The Woodstock American Legion exists for veterans and their families. We honor and support all veterans who have served our country as we continue to foster and perpetuate Americanism while encouraging individual obligations to community, state, and government service. In these ways, the members of American Legion Post 1026 are active in the Woodstock community through various programs.
The purpose of Woodstock American Legion Post 1026 can best be expressed by these words "...to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan". President Abraham Lincoln - Second Inaugural Address 1865
Our mission is to support our Veterans, their rights and our community. Our call to duty did not end with our military service. Our strong sense of pride, honor and love of country will keep us focused. We shall endeavor in our mission, never shall we fail and gallantly we will wear our colors.
"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty." - John F. Kennedy
